Vollpension (Volpension) - Brunch Recommendation!


I woke up early in the morning because I couldn't adjust to the time difference, so I got ready and went to find a place to eat brunch.


It opens at 8 am, so I went there almost as soon as it opened.



The atmosphere inside was amazing from the moment I entered, and it was a place where the words "cozy and warm" were appropriate.


It was a concept where the grandmother cooked the food herself and served it, so I could feel the warmth, and the food seemed to be mainly healthy, so my stomach felt good after eating.



The system was unique, with a set time you could stay depending on the type of menu.


For example, if you order the big brunch set, you can stay for a maximum of 90 minutes and taste all the drinks,
but if you order coffee, you can stay for up to 60 minutes. (I didn't take a picture of the menu, so the time is not accurate..)



Anyway, we ordered the big brunch so we could slowly taste all the different types of drinks,
so the server kept asking "Anything else?" and asked us to keep ordering drinks in the middle, saying it was all-inclusive.


The drink I recommend is the lemonade, which is not too sweet or sour, and it was delicious because it was homemade.

Belvedere Palace

We took a tram from Volpension and arrived at Belvedere Palace.



Simple way to ride a tram/subway/bus!
You need a ticket to ride a tram/subway/bus, but you can buy it at a nearby tobacco shop or subway,
and you need to punch the ticket when you get on for the first time.

You'll hear a sound and a hole will be punched or the time you punched it will be printed. You can use the ticket from the time you punched it.

Don't punch it again from the next time you ride.


They say that inspectors check randomly, and if you don't punch it, you'll be fined, so be sure to punch it only once when you get on for the first time!
(We were checked by an inspector later on, so I realized it was real ㅎㅅㅎ)


We bought a day pass (24 hours) because we were going to be touring all day.

It cost about 10,000 won (8 euros) in Korean money, but it was worth more than that because we rode a lot.

Also, a day pass can be used on trams, subways and buses, so you don't have to buy them separately.



At Belvedere, we bought a ticket for the upper Belvedere (upper palace).


That's because we could see the paintings by Klimt and Egon Schiele.


The lower Belvedere (lower palace) is where you can see other paintings and architecture, but we weren't interested in it, so we didn't buy a ticket.



The Klimt paintings I saw in person were definitely different from what I saw in pictures.


The texture, the properties of the materials, and the detailed parts were visible, so I was more touched by it.

In addition to Klimt and Egon Schiele's paintings, there were many other works on display, and even just seeing the upper palace was enough to satisfy us.
The wall paintings on the ceiling were overwhelming, so I stood there for a while and looked up at them.
The high ceilings made it feel even more magnificent.

Belvedere in winter was definitely a bit empty, which was a shame.

Cafe Central

After visiting Belvedere, we went back to the city center,
and went to Cafe Central, which my boyfriend said was great when he went there before.


You might have to wait in line, but because it's wide, it seems like you'll find a seat quickly.

We waited for about 5 minutes.



You can eat meals, drinks or desserts, but it's actually more famous for its long history and tradition + warm atmosphere + elegant interior, so it's a place you're likely to go.



It was built in 1876 and was an important meeting place in Vienna in the 20th century, and many famous people visited it,
including Freud, whom we all know.



The statue greeting you at the front door is said to be Peter Altenberg, an Austrian writer who was a regular customer.



It's a place where you can experience the classical Austrian interior and the friendly service of the elderly waiters,
so I recommend going.

It's also fun to look for the murals inside.
We went outside and walked for a while, looked around the bookstore,
and luckily bought a German-language copy of "The Little Prince" for a friend nearby!

Five Guys

There is no Five Guys in Korea, so let's try it if there is one. ㅋㅋ
(I went there before it came to Korea)

I ordered the basic hamburger with everything except ketchup.


My boyfriend ordered a cheeseburger with only the ingredients he wanted.
We wondered if we should order fries or not, and we ordered a small size, but oh my god, there's so many. ㅋㅋㅋ

We ate deliciously and looked around the central street outside.
It was just right to take a break and relax.

St. Stephen's Cathedral

St. Stephen's Cathedral, located in the heart of Vienna, was majestic from the outside, but even more magnificent and reverent from the inside.


As I sat there for a while and listened to my boyfriend tell me the story of Jesus' birth, the atmosphere of the cathedral came alive.



There are special faces hidden everywhere,
including the person who built this cathedral, so it was fun to find them.



If you want to, you can pay to go up to the bell tower to enjoy the view,
or there is also a tour of the catacombs underground, so it might be good to look into it in advance and participate.

Starbucks

We had a reservation at the famous Figlmüller for dinner,
so we had to kill some time, so we went into Starbucks.


The atmosphere seems similar to Korea, but it was fresh because there were Austrians + tourists.


It seemed like there were a lot of students studying on laptops ㅎㅎ
It's fun to check out Starbucks in other countries!

Figlmüller

Figlmüller, famous for its historic schnitzel.


We had a reservation, so we were able to get into the first branch (Figlmüller at Wollzeile) easily.


If we hadn't made a reservation, it seems like they were sending people from the first branch to the second branch.



The reviews for the second branch aren't very good, but the first branch seems good, so it's probably a good idea to make a reservation in advance.


We were very satisfied with the friendly service and the delicious food.



We ordered pork schnitzel, rice, raspberry soda, and potato salad and shared them.
The schnitzel was really big, and unlike tonkatsu, it had a soft, crispy exterior, and the meat was well-seasoned and salty, so it was delicious.


Personally, I liked it better with lemon juice because it added flavor and umami.



It was so big that we eventually got thirsty, so we ate it with raspberry soda.

The raspberry soda went well with the schnitzel, though.


I don't know if it's only the first branch, but they said they didn't have any beer.



The potato salad was seasoned just right, and it had vegetables on top, so it was delicious.

The doneness was just right, so it wasn't too soft or too hard, and it had a good texture.

Billa

On our way home, we stopped by Billa, a convenience store/supermarket in Vienna,
and bought milk and water.


Make sure you buy water that says "wasser" (water) "ohne" (without) "gas" (gas) so you don't get confused with carbonated water.


"Ohne" means "without", so keep that in mind!!
